Having a disability and being a Christian always draws me to the verses in the Bible that describe spinal cord miraculous healing. These verses are regularly used in sermons and each time the preacher gets my full attention. Often I would take the opportunity to talk to the pastor following the worship service. Offers to come forward at the end of a sermon and get prayers for some sort of healing to occur can occur at my church. People have various issues in life, and they not only relate to physical problems, but they may also refer to mental struggles or sin in their lives too.
Spinal cord miraculous healing in the Bible.
If Jesus could heal 2000 years ago, I believe that Jesus can heal now, and verses in the bible support this including…
Hebrews 13:8 ‘Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.’
There are over 30 individual healings, and 20 references to mass healings in the New Testament including…
Matthew 15:29-31 ‘Jesus left there and went along the Sea of Galilee. Then he went up on a mountainside and sat down. 30 Great crowds came to him, bringing the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute and many others, and laid them at his feet; and he healed them. The people were amazed when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled made well, the lame walking and the blind seeing. And they praised the God of Israel.’
Matthew 21:14 ‘The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them.’
Luke 7:21-23 ‘At that very time Jesus cured many who had diseases, sicknesses and evil spirits, and gave sight to many who were blind. So he replied to the messengers, ‘Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor. Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.’
My search for spinal cord miraculous healing in Australia.
Occasionally I hear from Christians they have witnessed spinal cord miraculous healing, and most of the time it occurred in Africa or Asia. Why would God choose these locations and not Australia? Maybe the healings are happening here, and I just needed to contact the right people.
I ran a search on Google for healing ministries in Australia and contacted those which appeared in the top ten results. Each ministry received the history of my life, including my Faith and my disability, so they knew I wasn’t wasting their time, or trying to ridicule them. I asked them if spinal cord miraculous healing of people in wheelchairs occurred within their ministry.

A few weeks passed, and I only received a few generic responses. i.e. ‘Thank you for contacting us and we will pray for you’. I reminded all ten healing ministries of my request. Ellel Ministries mentioned…
‘We don’t keep records of God’s healings in our ministry, so, unfortunately, we can’t help you. Praise God for your healing’.
What a cop out! I was angry, not just at Ellel Ministries, but with all of the groups that advertised healing services, but couldn’t spare the time to respond to me. I replied…
‘A lame person walking would be remembered by your group. It’s something to be shared with non-believers. Jesus healing the lame. Why isn’t it happening now? I am just looking for answers as I am lame. And Jesus heals. Except for people who are lame it seems. Your gift from God is healing. Or is it ?’
I felt sorry for people with a SCI who respond to their claims of healing.
Kenneth Copeland ministries replied…
‘We appreciate your desire for fellowship. However, because our mailing list is confidential, we are unable to provide the information you requested’.
They didn’t have the time to read my request correctly. I was just after a ‘yes’ or a ‘no’, and a ‘yes’ answer in no way would violate the confidentiality of their clients. Given they were concerned about confidentiality, I suggested my contact details could be passed onto people who received healing from Jesus, as a result of their healing ministries. Those people could then decide if they wanted to communicate with me.
Healing Life Ministries mentioned that no one with an SCI had been healed as yet, and I appreciated their response and honesty. Katherine Ruonala Ministries provided the best answer, and I talked to a genuine and compassionate man for over an hour. He shared many miracles he personally experienced, however, no one received a spinal cord miraculous healing.
This leaves six healing ministries that didn’t have the compassion, care and Christian love to reply to my email. It was disappointing that they make many claims on their website of miraculous healings, and they cannot send an email on the topic of healing.
Life of Brian.
A funny scene from the movie ‘ of Brian’ portrays a person healed by Jesus.
Ex-Leper: Okay, sir, my final offer: half a shekel for an old ex-leper?
Brian: Did you say ‘ex-leper’?
Ex-Leper: That’s right, sir, 16 years behind a veil and proud of it, sir.
Brian: Well, what happened?
Ex-Leper: Oh, cured, sir.
Ex-Leper: Yes sir, bloody miracle, sir. Bless you!
Brian: Who cured you?
Ex-Leper: Jesus did, sir. I was hopping along, minding my own business, all of a sudden, up he comes, cures me! One minute I’m a leper with a trade, next minute my livelihood’s gone. Not so much as a by-your-leave! ‘You’re cured, mate.’ Bloody do-gooder.
Not everyone is pleased with their spinal cord miraculous healing from Jesus 🙂
The most remarkable healing.
With a simple word, Jesus transformed four days dead, stinking Lazarus into a living, breathing, alive Lazarus. In my estimation, it is the most remarkable of all the miraculous deeds Jesus performed.
‘Jesus, once more deeply moved, came to the tomb. It was a cave with a stone laid across the entrance. ‘Take away the stone,’ he said. ‘But, Lord,’ said Martha, the sister of the dead man, ‘ this time there is a bad odour, for he has been there four days.’ John 11:38-39 NIV
The KJV says ‘Lord, by this time he stinketh’. 🙂
Even if a spinal cord miraculous healing does not occur in your life, that does not mean that God cannot work in amazing ways in your life. I’ve experienced many ‘little miracles’ in my life and will share them in another blog.
